When selecting a hot and cold heat exchanger, engineers often encounter a specific problem: the same unit cannot suppress oil temperature when cooling water temperature is high in summer, and in winter it is prone to overcooling, causing medium viscosity to increase. This is usually not due to insufficient heat exchange area, but rather a mismatch between material and medium that does not correspond to actual operating conditions.
Cast aluminum heat exchangers are suitable for medium- and low-temperature uniform heating applications such as plastic machinery, die heads, and water heaters, with relatively low cost; cast copper heat exchangers have better thermal conductivity and high mechanical strength, and are commonly used in chemical pipelines, alloy die-casting machines, and demanding molds.
Common materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, and duplex steel. Before selection, it is necessary to confirm medium corrosiveness, chloride ion content, and operating temperature range. For the cooling water side, attention should be paid to scaling tendency.
Suitable for plastic machinery, chemical pipelines, alloy die-casting machines, etc. Routine maintenance should regularly check seals and scaling on heat exchange surfaces, and the cleaning cycle should be determined according to water quality and operating duration.
