Electric Heating Plate

An electric heating plate is a plate-shaped electric heating device that converts electrical energy into thermal energy. Its core structure uses mica board or ceramic as the insulation layer, combined with metal support materials, and is widely used in industries, laboratories, household appliances, and other fields.

Working Principle

Electric heating plates mainly have two heating methods:

Resistance heating: When current passes through a resistance wire, heat is generated due to the resistance effect, and then uniformly transferred to the plate surface through thermally conductive materials. This is the most common method.

Electromagnetic induction heating: High-frequency current flows through a coil to generate an alternating magnetic field, which induces eddy currents inside the metal object to be heated, thereby generating Joule heat and raising its temperature.

Heating plates are usually equipped with a temperature control system (temperature sensor + PID controller) to precisely monitor and adjust temperature. Some products can achieve thermal efficiency of over 96%.

Stainless Steel (Mica) Type Uses mica board as insulation framework and stainless steel plate as protective shell, with a thickness of only about 4mm, suitable for spaces with limited installation area 500–600℃

Ceramic Type Surface heating without electricity, low leakage current, high insulation strength, resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, and does not crack under multiple thermal cycles 350–400℃

Cast Aluminum/Copper Type Heating tubes are cast into aluminum or copper plates, offering large heat capacity and uniform temperature, suitable for high-power applications such as mold heating Depends on process

Graphene Type New material, fast heating and large heat dissipation area —

Silicone Rubber Type Flexible, can conform to curved surfaces for heating —

Application Scenarios

Household Appliances: Rice cookers, electric irons, microwave ovens, electric water heaters, electric coffee pots, etc.

Laboratories: Sample drying, chemical digestion, solution heating and insulation, often used with magnetic stirrers, safer without open flames

Industrial Equipment: Mold heating, plastic machinery, laminating machines, photocopiers, etc.

Emerging Fields: Thermal management of new energy vehicle batteries, smart home heating (infrared radiation heating plates)

Selection Key Points

Temperature Range: Match according to process requirements; ceramic type is suitable for medium and low temperatures (≤400℃), stainless steel mica type can reach 500–600℃

Heating Area and Power: Laboratories commonly use 500–2000W, industrial grade can reach several kilowatts or even higher

Plate Surface Material: Consider corrosion resistance (Teflon/graphite surfaces are suitable for acid and alkali environments), thermal uniformity (cast aluminum type is more uniform)

Temperature Control Accuracy: Ordinary adjustable temperature type is suitable for general heating, PID intelligent temperature control type (accuracy ±1–2℃) is suitable for precision experiments

Safety Certification: The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) released the new version of the electric heating plate safety standard IEC 60335-2-12:2024 in August 2024. It is recommended to check whether the product has passed relevant certifications when purchasing
