In on-site operation and maintenance, a gradual increase in the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of a plate-and-frame heat exchanger, along with a temperature difference deviating from the set value, is often related to plate fouling or gasket aging. Whether the equipment's own parameter matching is reasonable directly affects the cleaning cycle and operational stability.
Before selection, confirm the single-plate heat transfer area and the actual heat load requirement. Insufficient plates will lead to excessively high flow velocity and increased pressure drop; too many plates will result in low flow velocity, making it easy to form stagnant zones and accelerate fouling. The BR-100 has a single-plate heat transfer area of 0.1 square meters, and the number of plates can be combined according to working conditions so that the flow velocity in the channel is controlled within a reasonable range.
Plates are commonly made of 304 or 316L stainless steel, and gaskets can be selected from nitrile rubber, EPDM rubber, or fluororubber. When the medium contains chloride ions, the pitting corrosion resistance of 316L is better than that of 304; for high-temperature conditions, attention should be paid to the upper temperature limit of the gasket. Improper material selection will accelerate seal aging and increase the risk of leakage. When equipped with an electric heater, it is also necessary to verify the explosion-proof grade and temperature class, and reserve space for pulling out plates for cleaning.
The equipment should be installed vertically, with maintenance access reserved. During operation, record the inlet and outlet temperatures and pressures. When the pressure drop rises significantly compared with the initial value, chemical cleaning or plate removal and cleaning should be arranged. When shutting down, drain the residual liquid to avoid long-term compression deformation of the gasket. Tightening bolts should be performed evenly in diagonal order and in stages to prevent plate misalignment.
The BR-100 is suitable for HVAC systems, hydraulic oil cooling, chemical process medium heat exchange, and waste heat recovery, among other applications.
