When requesting a quote on site, only the connection size is often provided, without mentioning the medium composition, temperature, pressure, or flow rate. This lack of information frequently leads to deviations in calculating the number of plates, and later the heat transfer performance and operating pressure drop deviate from expectations.
The number of plates and the flow arrangement of a plate-and-shell heat exchanger must be calculated one by one based on the medium composition, design temperature, working pressure, and volumetric flow rate. Without the medium composition, it is impossible to confirm whether the gasket material and plate material are compatible; without the flow rate and allowable pressure drop, the number of plates and flow arrangement cannot be reasonably determined. Procurement personnel should provide complete parameters as much as possible during the inquiry stage, avoiding direct orders based on old drawings or estimated areas.
This model uses a combined structure of plate pack and shell. The plates are commonly made of 304 or 316L stainless steel, and the gaskets can be selected from nitrile, EPDM, or fluororubber. The specific combination must be determined based on the corrosiveness of the medium and the temperature range. Gaskets from different batches are not recommended to be mixed to avoid inconsistent sealing performance.
It can be used in liquid-liquid heat exchange applications in chemical, pharmaceutical, and HVAC systems. The working pressure and temperature range must be confirmed after selection calculations. The connection size can be configured according to pipeline requirements, but the size itself cannot replace complete process parameters.
