Flange Selection in Electric Heater Design

Flange selection in electric heater design includes the basis for flange selection, flange connection methods, and the types and functions of flange sealing faces.

    1. Basis for flange selection:

1.The nature of the conveyed medium: general media, special media, toxic and hazardous media, flammable and explosive media;

2.According to the medium parameters, working pressure, and working temperature, when the medium is determined, the nominal pressure PN of the flange is determined based on the working temperature and working pressure of the medium.

3.According to the usage site and connection conditions, determine the connection method between the flange and the pipe and the sealing face form.

4.Determine the flange specification based on the connected object.

    2. Flange connection methods:

    Pipe flanges can be divided into five basic types according to the connection method with the pipe: flat welding flange, butt welding flange, threaded flange, socket welding flange, and loose flange.

    There are many types of flange sealing faces. Commonly used ones include raised face (RF), female face (FM), male and female face (MFM), tongue and groove face (TG), flat face (FF), and ring joint face (RJ).
