In Zone 1 and Zone 2 sites with explosive gases or combustible dust in petrochemical, marine, and offshore engineering industries, ordinary electric heaters cannot meet explosion-proof requirements when heating media such as heavy oil, heat transfer oil, and fuel oil. Common on-site problems include: heater surface temperatures exceeding the ignition temperature of the medium, causing safety hazards; dry burning or low liquid levels causing damage to components; and insufficient protection of the wiring cavity causing water ingress and moisture. The root causes of these problems are mostly related to improper matching of explosion-proof ratings, lack of protection mechanisms, or non-compliant installation methods.
The selection of explosion-proof electric heaters first requires determining the explosion-proof marking based on the hazardous area classification and gas grouping. For Zone 1 and Zone 2 explosive gas environments, Group IIA, IIB, and IIC gases can use Ex d IIB T4 Gb or Ex d IIC T4 Gb; for combustible dust Zone 21 and Zone 22, the corresponding marking is Ex tD A21 IP66. The temperature class must ensure that the maximum surface temperature of the equipment is lower than the ignition temperature of the medium. For example, when the ignition temperature of the medium is 200°C, Class T3 or higher should be selected. The BGYB-380/60 explosion-proof electric heater has obtained an explosion-proof certificate for the complete unit, complies with the GB 3836 series standards, has a protection rating of IP66, and can adapt to outdoor and humid environments.
This model has a rated voltage of 380V, a rated power of 60kW, a maximum working temperature of up to 720°C, a pressure resistance rating of 20MPa, a temperature control accuracy of ±1°C, and a thermal efficiency of ≥95%. The equipment is equipped with over-temperature protection, low liquid level/dry burn protection, over-pressure alarm, and flow monitoring, and can provide alarm signals such as operation, high temperature, and fault to the DCS system to achieve remote interlocking control. For working conditions where the heating temperature exceeds 700°C, the heating element material and insulation scheme need to be confirmed separately.
The BGYB-380/60 is suitable for heating hydrocarbons such as crude oil, heavy oil, fuel oil, heat transfer oil, and paraffin wax in the petrochemical industry, jacket heating of chemical reactors, material heating and powder drying, pipeline heat tracing at natural gas pressure reduction stations, fuel oil/lubricating oil preheating in ship engine rooms and oil tanks (can meet the certification requirements of classification societies such as CCS and DNV), and space insulation and antifreeze in explosive environments such as underground coal mines. Depending on the installation method, flange connection, threaded connection, or inline pipeline circulation structure can be selected.
