You can think of it as a "smart thermal garment" for the machine barrel, providing precise and stable heat for the melting, reaction, or processing of materials such as plastics and rubber by closely fitting around the equipment's outer wall.

⚙️ Working Principle

The core working principle of an electric heating coil is resistance heating. It utilizes the Joule effect of electric current, causing the internal electric heating alloy wire (such as nickel-chromium alloy or iron-chromium-aluminum alloy) to generate heat when energized. The heat is then transferred to the object being heated (e.g., an injection molding machine barrel) through conduction, radiation, and other methods.

Key Points for Selection and Procurement

Choosing the right electric heating coil ensures the machine does not alarm or stop; choosing the wrong one can lead to unstable temperatures, short lifespan, and even safety issues like electric leakage. Please pay attention to the following points:

Power Matching, Not Simply Bigger is Better

Do not only look at total power; the key is whether the power per unit area (W/cm²) matches the equipment's heat dissipation capability. If the power is too high, heat cannot be dissipated, which may burn out the heating coil itself or cause local overheating of the barrel.

Dimensional Tolerance is a Hard Constraint

The inner diameter of the electric heating coil must fit tightly with the outer diameter of the equipment barrel. Typically, the tolerance should be within ±0.5mm. If the fit is not tight, heat transfer efficiency will drop by more than 30%, leading to temperature control failure and increased energy consumption. Before purchasing, always measure the equipment dimensions on-site; do not rely solely on estimates from drawings.

Material Determines Lifespan and Application

Ceramic coils: High temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, suitable for harsh conditions, but relatively brittle.

Mica coils: Sensitive to moisture and vibration, relatively lower thermal efficiency, require periodic tightening to prevent loosening.

Cast aluminum coils: In humid environments, moisture-proof treatment is needed; prolonged overheating can cause deformation.

Silicone coils: Not resistant to oil and dirt; prolonged high temperatures can cause hardening and aging.

Temperature Control Interface Must Match

Confirm whether the heating coil comes with a built-in thermocouple, and whether the interface type (such as threaded hole positions, lead wire length) is compatible with your temperature control system (e.g., PLC + temperature control module). Otherwise, it may not be installable or may not provide precise temperature control.

Beware of Procurement Pitfalls

Request inspection reports: Ask the supplier to provide an "Ex-factory Inspection Report" that includes key measured values such as cold resistance, hot power, and insulation resistance, not just specification sheet promises.

Clarify warranty terms: Confirm whether the warranty covers typical failures such as thermocouple failure, shell cracking, and power attenuation.

Reject "Three-No" products: Do not accept bare products without batch numbers or manufacturer identification, as this poses significant risks in after-sales traceability and liability determination.

Watch for hidden costs: Be wary of "low bid winning" followed by additional charges for mold fees, testing fees, drawing confidentiality fees, etc.
