The BR-58 plate-and-frame heat exchanger is designed for water-to-water heat exchange applications such as secondary district heating networks and chilled water systems for air conditioning. The plates feature a herringbone corrugation pattern that induces turbulence at relatively low Reynolds numbers, helping to improve heat transfer efficiency and mitigate fouling. Plates can be made of 304 or 316L stainless steel depending on the medium, and EPDM gaskets are recommended for conventional hot water conditions to withstand higher temperatures while maintaining elasticity.
Gasket selection requires checking both the upper temperature limit and chemical compatibility. EPDM can be used for hot water conditions; FKM is required for oil-containing solvents or certain chemical media. Improper material selection accelerates seal aging and increases the risk of leakage, so medium composition and operating temperature should be confirmed together during design selection.
The unit uses a frame clamping structure, and the plates are removable for cleaning, making it easy to add or reduce the number of plates according to heat transfer area requirements. Space for plate withdrawal must be reserved during design selection, and clamping should be performed according to the torque values provided by the manufacturer.
