In the procurement of equipment for HVAC, district heating, or chemical cooling water systems, if an inquiry for a plate-and-frame heat exchanger specifies only flow rate and temperature, it often leads to repeated revisions during the technical agreement stage. Common issues center on: whether the plate material matches the corrosiveness of the medium, whether the pressure rating meets system requirements, whether the allowable pressure drop has a margin, and the impact of the on-site hazardous area classification on electrical configuration. If these issues are not clarified in advance, interface mismatches or operating parameters deviating from design conditions may occur after delivery.
Medium corrosiveness is the primary basis for determining plate material. For circulating water and general industrial cooling water, 304 stainless steel plates can meet most operating conditions; if the medium contains chloride ions or is weakly acidic, 316L stainless steel should be selected; for more corrosive chemical media, titanium plates or Hastelloy plates may be considered. Regarding pressure rating, the conventional design pressure of the BR-110 is 1.0 MPa to 1.6 MPa. When the working pressure exceeds 1.6 MPa, a reinforced clamping structure and thickened plates are required. During procurement, the working pressure and design pressure should be specified separately.
To avoid selection deviations, the following should be provided during technical communication: medium name, concentration, inlet and outlet temperatures, flow rate, allowable pressure drop, working pressure, corrosiveness description, and on-site hazardous area classification. The allowable pressure drop directly affects the number of plates and pass arrangement; if not provided, it may be temporarily estimated at a conventional 0.05 MPa to 0.1 MPa, but must be confirmed before ordering. The hazardous area classification involves the protection configuration of electrical components and wiring and must be specified in advance.
The BR-110 plate-and-frame heat exchanger adopts a frame clamping structure with removable plates for cleaning, and is suitable for HVAC water systems, the secondary side of district heating, chemical cooling water, and general industrial liquid heat exchange. The plate corrugation pattern can be selected as herringbone or horizontal straight corrugation according to operating conditions, and the port orientation can be adjusted according to the on-site piping layout. The equipment footprint is relatively compact, facilitating the arrangement of maintenance access within the equipment room.
