When purchasing shell and tube heat exchangers, buyers often face a trade-off between material options and cost. The GCH-200 shell and tube heat exchanger features a removable tube bundle design, which facilitates later cleaning and maintenance and is suitable for working conditions that require periodic inspection for scaling.
Fixed tubesheet heat exchangers have a simple structure and lower cost, but the tube bundle and shell are welded together as one unit, so cleaning can only rely on chemical methods. The GCH-200 adopts a removable tube bundle structure, allowing the bundle to be pulled out for mechanical cleaning during maintenance, making the maintenance cycle more controllable for media prone to scaling. Its shell and tube bundle materials can be selected separately; for example, a carbon steel shell with a 304 stainless steel tube bundle meets corrosion resistance requirements while controlling material costs.
The tube bundle of this model can be made of carbon steel, 304 or 316L stainless steel, and the shell material can differ from that of the bundle. Material selection must balance thermal conductivity and cost, and should not be based on corrosion resistance alone. Carbon steel tubes offer high thermal conductivity and low cost, suitable for non-corrosive media; 304 stainless steel is suitable for general mildly corrosive conditions; 316L stainless steel is suitable for more corrosive media containing chloride ions. Purchasing personnel can make a comprehensive decision based on medium composition, temperature and budget.
After the equipment is put into operation, observe the pressure gauge and thermometer readings. If the pressure drop on the tube side gradually increases or the heat transfer temperature difference noticeably decreases, this usually indicates scaling on the inside of the tube bundle. It is recommended to schedule an inspection when the pressure drop rises beyond a certain percentage of the initial value, and to set the cleaning cycle based on water quality conditions. The removable tube bundle design makes mechanical cleaning possible and reduces the frequency of chemical cleaning.
The GCH-200 is suitable for medium heat transfer load scenarios such as HVAC, chemical cooling and waste heat recovery. When purchasing, verify the design pressure, design temperature, nozzle orientation and installation space, and confirm the combination of tube bundle and shell materials with the supplier. For working conditions where the corrosiveness of the medium is unknown, it is recommended to take samples for analysis before determining the materials.
