316L stainless steel welded pipe is Brinell hardness (HB uses a steel ball or hard alloy ball of a certain diameter, pressed into the sample surface with a specified test force (F), after a specified holding time, the test force is removed, and the indentation diameter (L) on the sample surface is measured. The Brinell hardness value is the quotient obtained by dividing the test force by the spherical surface area of the indentation. It is expressed as HBS (steel ball), with the unit N/mm2 (MPa). The calculation formula is: where: F--test force pressed into the surface of the 316L stainless steel welded pipe sample, N, D--diameter of the steel ball used in the test, mm, d--average diameter of the indentation, mm. Measuring Brinell hardness is relatively accurate and reliable, but generally HBS is only applicable to metal materials below 450N/mm2 (MPa). For harder steel or thinner 316L stainless steel welded pipes, it is not applicable. In the standards for 316L stainless steel welded pipes, Brinell hardness is the most widely used. Often, the indentation diameter d is used to represent the hardness of the material, which is both intuitive and convenient.
